Officials of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company have attributed the recent power outages in the state and environs to incessant cases of transformers failures and illegal tampering with the distribution facilities by unauthorized persons in the state, The Guardian reports.

A press statement signed by the Head, Corporate Communication of the Company, Mallam AbdulAzeez Abdullahi, quoted the Chief Engineering and Technical Services Officer of the Company, Alhaji Bello Musa as saying, “in the last six months, eleven transformers were burnt and investigations by the company revealed that some customers, obviously for selfish reasons, connected power supply from two different transformers, thereby causing short-circuit in the transformers”.

He stressed the need for effective collaboration and synergy between the company and its customers, “if the menace is to be addressed”, while appealing to “all electricity users in the company’s franchise area to report anybody suspected to be feeding from two different transformers or tampering with power supply facilities to the company for appropriate action”.
