Ayade to Boost Electricity Supply in Calabar With 180 Transformers

Following persistent poor power supply in Calabar, the Cross River State capital and environs, the state government has procured 180 transformers for distribution to various parts of the capital to enhance power distribution.

Director General of Cross River State Electricity Agency, CRSEA, Mr Jake Enya told Vanguard, yesterday, that the state capital has been suffering epileptic power supply for a long time which prompted the state governor, Senator Ben Ayade to intervene by ordering the procurement of a large number transformers for installation in all parts of the city. “So many transformers have been vandalised while some have since gone bad leaving most parts of the city without electricity or at best receive power supply once in a long while which is why Governor Ayade decided to intervene by procuring the transformers for distribution across the state capital.” Enya said a Lagos company, Skiper supplied the transformers at all cost of N624 million after it emerged successful at the end of a keen bidding process conducted by the agency. “We set up a team comprising engineers from the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Works and our in-house engineers to conduct a rigorous test on the transformers and their quality was certified okay before the supply went ahead.”
