The Board of Directors of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has approved the appointment of Engr. Ernest Mupwaya as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company.
A statement from the media head, Ahmed Shekarau, yesterday said the appointment followed the retirement of Mr. Neil Croucher after his three year tenure.
Mr. Croucher, who has played a significant role in steering the AEDC successfully through the challenges of post-privatization from 2013 to date, has had more than 37 years of extensive experience straddling all the three value chains of generation, transmission and distribution, as well as a stint in regulatory affairs, the statement said.
Mupwaya’s appointment which takes effect from today, August 1, 2016, is subject to approval of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the statement added.
Mupwaya until his appointment was the Director of Commercial Services at AEDC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, with about 30 years in the electricity industry.
The AEDC Board, at its meeting of July 21, also approved a new management structure for the with a Corporate Services Directorate to supervise five different functions including Human Resources, Procurement, Government and Regulatory Relations, Public Relations and Fleet & Amp; Facilities Management.
