The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) yesterday said four distribution companies (Discos) should pay N27.4m within two weeks for failing to treat customers’ complaints and not submitting their quarterly reports.
While Port Harcourt and Enugu Discos were sanctioned for their failure to submit quarterly reports on their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Ibadan and Ikeja Discos were fined for failure to attend to customers’ complaints referred to them.

NERC in a statement said the directive had been communicated to the Discos ordering them to pay fines in unstated sums within two weeks from last Monday.

The directive signed by the Acting Chairman, Dr. Anthony Akah and the General Manager, Legal, Licensing and Enforcement (LL&E), Mrs. Olufunke Dinneh, noted that non-compliance would attract a five per cent daily interest rate until remedial steps are taken.
