Erratic power supply in Oyo State may soon be a thing of the past as the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration has collaborated with a Chinese company, China Polaris Group, to set up a solar system that will serve Ibadan metropolis.
This was part of the promises made by the Chinese Company during the ground breaking ceremony that would kickstart a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) that will gulp $2 billion. Also, the initiative will involve assembling of vehicles and helicopter which the state government hopes will boost the economy of the state.
The State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, while performing the groundbreaking ceremony of the FTZ, which has been named Polaris-Pacesetter Free Trade Zone, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Oluyole Local Government Area, said: “Industrialization is the process by which an economy is transformed from primarily agricultural to one based on the manufacturing of goods. Individual manual labour is often replaced by mechanized mass production, and craftsmen are replaced by assembly lines.
Without doubt, we have massive arable land for agriculture in Oyo State and the state government is exploring and exploiting this with its agric Oyo project. ”However, with the ailing state of the economy, we need a stronger combination and dosage for a stronger comeback. That we have found in the combination of agriculutre and industrialisation.”
