The Nigerian Government says it has signed the International Energy Charter, in a bid to boost energy security in the country.

The Federal Government also said it would provide more jobs and reduce poverty in Nigeria.

It was gathered that the government consequently launched a National Energy Summit, a framework to monitor collaboration with the Charter which, according to reports, is not a legally-binding obligation to strengthen international energy co-operation between countries.

Nigeria, based on the signing, has joined 10 other African countries and 80 signatories globally to support a sustainable clean energy.
