The Managing Director of Kaduna Electric, Engineer Garba Haruna, has said the company through its networks mapping has increased the customers’ population to 435,000 while it targets hitting one million customers by 2018.
Speaking at the maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM), Haruna said the Distribution Company (DisCo) commenced the mapping of 33KV, 11KV networks noting that, “At conclusion of the programme in 2017, we hope to achieve customers’ enumeration and capturing of about 750,000 while making consistent growth to about one million by 2018.”
The Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar while briefing shareholders said the national macro-economic challenges were borne by Kaduna Electric without a transfer of a burden to customers due to the regulated tariff.
He said despite the challenges, the DisCo stabilized its distribution network operations, increased capacity by over 1500MVA, installation of 25,000 smart meters and network expansion underserved areas.
A statement by the spokesman, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, said it received a satisfactory audit report from the external auditors, Messrs. Ahmed Zakari & Co. At the AGM, the six non-Executive Directors were re-elected and the Audit Committee reconstituted, the statement said.
