The House of Representatives yesterday urged the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to complete the abandoned 132/33KV transmission project in Pankshin, Plateau State.
The House also urged the ministry to cause the commissioning of the completed transmission station in Pankshin for the 132/33KV station in Langtang and Shendam to commence operation.
Adopting a motion by Timothy Golu (PDP, Plateau) and two others, the House mandated the committee on power to ensure that the resolution was adhered.
The House said the 2x40MWA and 132/33KV transmission stations at Pankshin, initiated and constructed during former president Olusegun Obasanjo, was aimed at improving power supply to Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam, Mangu, Langtang, Quanpan, Shendam and Mikang in Plateau State and Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa in Bauchi State.
The House said although the transmission station was completed over two years ago, it was yet to be commissioned for use, while the construction of connected or affiliate 132KV lines from Jos transmission station to Pankshin was abandoned by the contractor.
