A report by Ecobank Research has said that Chinese firms will be responsible for over 65 percent of power projects scheduled for completion across sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) between 2016 and 2020, Daily Trust reports.
The Chinese controlled 35 percent of power projects completed or under construction across SSA between 2010 and 2016, the report said.
The Chinese dominated the sub-region’s power sector compared to France’s 10 percent, Italy 9 percent, Finland’s 8 percent and 7.5 percent for United States.
The report estimated that 15 percent of the 252,000 total Chinese workers in Africa are currently engaged in power projects across SSA.
