Babatunde Fashola, minister of works, power and housing, says the $35 million Fast Power project would not have been possible without appropriation, The Cable reports.
He said this in response to an allegation raised by Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west who said the ministry embarked on the project without consulting the national assembly. Melaye made the allegation at plenary on Thursday.
But Fashola said the project is a “presidential initiative” and could not have been done without appropriation. He spoke through Hakeem Bello, his media aide, who said; “I know for a fact that the Fast Power project is a presidential initiative and I’m sure definitely that there will be a budgetary appropriation for it.”
