The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday granted the sum of N3.95billion for the Engineering design, manufacturing and supply, construction, testing and commissioning of the Onitsha-Ifite-dunu 32 KV transmission line in Anambra State, South East, Nigeria.
The money will also cater for a substation at Ifite-dunu and the 2/132 line base extension at Onitsha, also in Anambra State.
Briefing reporters on the outcome of the meeting, the Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, said that the power infrastructure in the communities affected had been over stretched.
He said that the poor transmission infrastructure had affected power supply in the communities.
Some of the communities that have witnessed infrastructure over-stretch, as listed by the Minister, are; Awka, Onitsha, Ifite-dunu, Nnewi and Obosi.
