Residents of Suleja Community in Niger State on Wednesday, November 25, stormed the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, office located in Kwamba protesting lack of power supply in their area and incessant crazy bills from officials of the energy provider.

The Protesters numbering about 100, carried placards with different inscriptions including, “No light, no bill,” “we need Suleja light, no more Maje light” and many more.

The protesters chanted as they marched on the road. They complained about the lack of electricity in Suleja and surrounding areas and condemned the rise in electricity tariff.

They called on the Federal Government to intervene in the problem and vowed not to pay their bills if electricity supply was not stabilised.

Some of the protesters said that the epileptic power supply was not commiserate to the high monthly bills ranging from N6,000 and above.

They said it was sheer madness for AEDC officials to keep bringing bills.
