BoI Delivers Solar Grid to Anambra Community

The Bank of Industry (BoI), in keeping with its socio-economic development mandate, on Friday commissioned an off-grid solar project executed by GVE Projects Nigeria, which would power over 200 homes, small businesses and social facilities, including schools, street lights and a community market in Onono-Anam, Anambra West local government area, Daily Trust reports.

Presenting the project to the elated community members, the acting Managing Director of the BoI, Mr Waheed Olagunju, disclosed that the bank had to apply special considerations to actualise the project, which is one of the six pilots embarked on across the country, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Project, with a total exposure of about N240 million.

The BoI has so far commissioned four out of the six pilot projects, which is the first phase of the scheme, in Niger, Osun, Gombe and Anambra states. The fifth and sixth ones are located in Kaduna and Edo states and will be commissioned shortly.
