The refusal of Nigerian government ministries, departments and agencies to pay the over N500 million they owe for electricity consumed has made the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to lament bitterly.
The company said this has hampered its desire to improve power distribution in Abuja, the country’s seat of power.
Speaking recently during a meeting with the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, on ways to make distribution electricity better in Abuja, the company urged the Minister to see how the issue is solved.
In his remarks, Mr Fashola noted that there was urgent need to pay up the debts owed by government parastatals because it affects the productivity of the power company. He promised to look into the issue.
