Sokoto City Still Without Electricity Over Transformer Fault

The breakdown of a 15 MVA electricity transformer has left most parts of Sokoto City and its environs without electricity supply.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, revealed that most parts of the city have been without power supply from the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KAEDCO, in the past six days.

Some of the affected areas include Kalambaina, Alkila, Bello Way, and Emir Yahayya, Gusau, Maiduguri and Abdullahi Fodio roads.

The development has consequently crippled socio-economic activities.

The residents who can afford to buy petroleum products have resorted to using power generators.

They decried the situation and appealed to the KAEDCO to step up actions to rectify the fault.

The Spokesman for KAEDCO in Sokoto, Alhaji Umar Tambuwal, confirmed the blackout.

Tambuwal said: ” Engineers of the company are working round the clock to restore power supply to the city and its environs as soon as possible.”
