In line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s strategy on incremental power, TCN has successfully installed a 60MVA power transformer at the Funtua Transmission Substation in Katsina State. The transformer which was installed wholly by TCN engineers was successfully commissioned on October 10, 2017.
In a statement signed by the General Manager Public Affairs, TCN said that with the installation and commissioning of the new 60MVA 132/33KV power transformer, the capacity of Funtua substation increased from 37.5MVA to 97.5MVA (78MW).
By this commissioning, TCN’s capacity to transmit power to distribution load centers in Funtua and environs has increased significantly and this has also provided more flexibility to Kano Electricity Distribution Company, which serves more than 1.2million electricity customers living within Southern Katsina, including Malumfashi, Kafur, Dandume, Maska, Bakori, Danja Kankara, Faskari and environs.
With the increased capacity to transmit more power to distribution load centres in the area, Kano Electricity Distribution Company can equally make arrangement to strengthen their feeders accordingly.
TCN is committed to improving its transmission network nationwide and would continue to invest in the system towards a more robust grid, in line with its Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Strategy.
