Kano Power Firm Misses N3.5 Billion Revenue Target

The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer,  Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr. Jamil Gwamna, has lamented the inability of its employees to meet the N3.5 billion revenue target.

The development, he said threatened the firm’s determination to remain afloat for efficient and effective service delivery to its numerous consumers.

Addressing workers during the company’s second Empower Conference, in Minjibir Golf Resort, Kano yesterday, he regretted that the company is yet to achieve the expected targeted.

While hailing the workers, from Kano, Jigawa and Katsina for generating N2.1 billion for this year, he tasked them to intensify efforts at satisfying their customers so as to generate more revenue.

Gwamna however, expressed hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel, just as he disclosed that the company has instituted an award night to reward outstanding employees, who have hit their target.

According to him, any worker that surpasses his revenue target will, apart from salary, be paid some extra cash, so as to encourage the worker to work harder to generate more revenue for the company.

To this end, he urged all the workers to continue to work on that path of progress and growth, pointing out that there is room for improvement.

In order to sustain its level of growth and progress, Gwamna, also urged the workers to remain dedicated and committed to the discharge of their responsibilities.

Also, he commended the efforts of the World Bank toward its efforts in supporting the Power Sector to ensure, as well as sustain steady power supply in the country.

”This conference will afford us an opportunity to look at our past performances and the challenges we faced in the past one year and try to come up with some reasonable solutions that will improve our operations and resolve some of the challenges.

Despite the meager resources at its disposal, KEDCO boss said the management not only introduced but executed some projects, running into billions of naira in order to meet the electricity demand of consumers in its coverage area of Jigawa, Katsina and Kano states.

He recalled that its customers witnessed the commissioning of the complete wiring of and installation of a 500kv Distribution Transformer by the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Power, Hon Daniel Asuquo at Farawa layout.

Thereafter, according to him, it was followed by the commissioning of completed Dakatar Small Scales Industrial Injection substation, as well as a state-of-the-art customer care center by the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, among others.

ln, his remark, a former Nigeria international footballer, Mr. Wahid Akanni, in his motivational message harped on the importance of teamwork to the staff, in order to attain the set objectives of the company for efficient service delivery.
